Compare school calendars

Pick two to four schools. We intersect their closures and show the days every one of them is off — the windows a family with children at different schools can actually use — and the days they disagree, which is where the childcare problem actually lives.

Step 1 · Choose schools

Nothing selected yet — add two or more schools to see the shared days off.

Step 2 · Narrow the window (optional)

Both start empty, which means every published date. Fill either one in and everything below — the counts, the windows, the timeline and the conflicts — recalculates inside it.

    How the comparison works

The 349 school records behind this tool publish 3,372 closures between them, drawn from each school's own calendar. Nothing here is inferred.

    • · A day counts as "off" only where a school has published a closure covering it. A blank in a school's calendar is treated as a school day, not a guess.
    • · Staff training days count: the school is shut to students, which is what matters for childcare.
    • · Exam windows are excluded. Students are in school during exams.
    • · Weekends are counted only where a school's own calendar marks them closed — the tool never invents a day off.
    • · Every school page links to its own source. Confirm before booking travel.

Comparing regions rather than individual schools? The holiday planner finds the overlap between whole states and countries.
